We participated and were active partners in Cultural Skills Exhibition which was on display in Rotherham Arts Centre this Summer, July 2025. Working alongside fellow voluntary organisations Apna Haq, BME Young People & Carers and YAWR (You Ask We Responded) we delivered creative workshops that promoted the cultural heritage of South Asian living in Rotherham West.

This accumulated in South Asian truck, a textile banner created by Steel City members. The group had a range of ideas, but settled on the idea of a truck; they recycled ‘scrap’ fabric from their collections to make flowers for the piece, and well as selecting flowers from old dresses to add to it.

The group really came out of their comfort zone; the social aspect and hosting sessions on an evening gave some young mums at home all day the opportunity to meet other people.
