We were pleased to receive funding to continue our research work through the South Yorkshire Community Foundation, aimed at engaging women from underrepresented groups about their experiences of maternity services in Rotherham. The research was conducted as part of our new mother and toddler group.
Twelve British South Asian and African heritage women who had babies in Rotherham shared their experiences and stories. The research is intended to reduce health inequalities and improve maternity services for women across South Yorkshire by gathering stories, feedback, and experiences from women who have used maternity and neonatal services in the past 2-3 years. The research will assist the Local Maternity & Neonatal System (LMNS) to shape maternity services, and the participants will contribute to the LMNS user involvement strategy by listening to voices that are not often heard in research.
We will be publishing the findings in due course!
