Uncover Cultural Skills funded by Yorkshire Visual Arts Network

We delivered creative workshops that promoted the cultural heritage of South Asian living in Rotherham West.  Working with a group of women skilled in textiles, we created a panel that reflected the women’s heritage and culture. Creating a South Asian style truck using old clothing, textiles, upcycled with multicoloured fabrics, and beads. Uncovering hidden talents, providing agency to communities, and building skills and confidence of women who are creative practitioners.

It was great to see the work of the ladies attending Apna Haq, YAWR Services, and families accessing BAME carers and young people group.

The artists and the women responsible for the artwork came together at the exhibition preview held at Rotherham Art Centre, attended by the Chair of YVAN, Helen Nakhwal, and Councillor Taiba Yaseen.
